Atlanta Staycation – Hotel Indigo Downtown

My new obsession is staycations – they’re such a fun way to see more of our city while enjoying a bit of luxury for the weekend!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Indigo Downtown for a mini-staycation – this urban oasis is ultra-modern, with bursts of color and unique art scattered throughout the hotel. Just before entering the Hotel Indigo, you’re greeted by architect John Portman’s abstract “Belle” sculpture, just the beginning of your art-inspired journey.

A fun aside about John Portman – he’s a world-renowned architect & real estate developer originally hailing from Atlanta! He’s constructed buildings from Chattanooga to Shanghai, but one of his best-known projects is AmericasMart just across the street from Hotel Indigo downtown.

A few other unique features of Hotel Indigo that you don’t want to miss:
  • The entryway to the guest rooms (204 in total) is flanked by a stunning floating glass & steel spiral staircase

  • The hotel’s foodie hub, JP Restaurant, features an eclectic menu with a seasonal focus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (I enjoyed a lovely breakfast of a Southern eggs benedict)

  • The massive domed bar at JP is adjacent to a floor-to-ceiling abstract mural

  • The hotel also offers a business center and gym, both full of art to keep you inspired!

  • The Hotel Indigo downtown is pet-friendly, just charging a small fee for your furry friends to stay with you (they even have a pet package available, which includes a bed & treats!)

Now for the guestrooms! I had a beautiful little corner unit all to myself, and loved all the clean, modern furnishings of my King room. My favorite part of my room – the floor-t0-ceiling shades that, with the press of a button, automatically raised to reveal a stellar view of downtown Atlanta! Oh, and don’t forget the spa-style bathroom with a hydromassage shower!

My room was super comfortable and relaxing – I ended up staying in with a cup of coffee and Say Yes to the Dress. Next time I plan to explore a bit more of the vibrant section of downtown surrounding the hotel!

If you’re looking for something a little active during your stay at Hotel Indigo downtown, they’ve recently created a Bike Atlanta Package – you’ll receive a overnight accommodations, a biking tour of Atlanta, and lunch for two following your tour. The bike package also helps to give back – a portion of the proceeds will go to the hotel’s Pelotonia team for cancer research, where they’re rallying together to support one of their staff members who is currently beating ovarian cancer.
