I'm lucky enough to live & work in Midtown, so I'm super excited to have Cactus House as a new local spot in my neck of the woods.
Tucked into the new Azure on the Park development just north of 10th Street on Piedmont, you can't miss Cactus House's colorful rainbow bench (celebrating Midtown's gay-friendly community) and string-light covered patio.
The whole restaurant (inside & out) is bursting with color, paralleling the bright, snappy menu of tacos and street-food-inspired snacks. Cactus House's main goal is to serve up delicious food with a casual, neighborhood feel, and they definitely deliver.
Start your meal with a side of thick-cut yuca fries and spicy-sweet sriracha ketchup. Next, kick things up a notch with an assortment of tacos - pro tip: come in to Cactus House on a Tuesday, where all tacos are a buck off (feel free to get more tacos to compensate).
My standout favorite taco - the lamb barbacoa, a juicy medley of lamb shoulder, avocado leaf, and onions + garlic that is wrapped in banana leaves and simmered for hours. The process simulates the traditional Mexican method of cooking the barbacoa in the ground, so it's not only super-authentic, but leaves the meat extra tender.
Don't forget to add on a house margarita (under the essentials column on the menu - this is why I love Cactus House!) The frozen strawberry is the perfect add-on to a patio dinner in the sultry Atlanta heat. If you're looking for a little something sweet to complete your meal, look no further than the churros + housemade ice cream. Cactus House is currently featuring the dessert with new oreo churros - you know I'll be stopping in for $4 Monday margs and a few churros ASAP!

Opening hours are also changing as fall approaches, but for now (as of 8/20), hours are as follows: 4-11 pm, Sunday - Wednesday; 4 pm - 12 am, Thursday - Saturday.
