Restaurant Spotlight - FLIP Burger

I'm always down for a good burger, especially any conceptualized by Chef Richard Blais (I'm a huge Top Chef fan!) Blais was the initial creative director behind FLIP Burger, a modern, chef-driven concept on the Westside (with an additional ATL location in Buckhead, plus spots in Birmingham & Nashville). Now, Head FLIP Chef Christian Norton is calling the shots, with an impressive fall menu that's just debuted to the delight of hungry diners.

FLIP Burger does things a little differently than your average burger joint. This isn't a standard single-patty with cheese type of place - the menu is imaginative and bold, featuring local ingredients and daily house-made condiments & sauces.

An early fan favorite on the new fall menu is the A5 - an authentic Japanese kobe patty + smoked gouda, bacon jam, swiss chard, smoked mayo, and a delicate quail egg (make sure to add a side of beef fat fries). Another standout is the caprese burger, pairing angus beef with fresh mozzarella, a slice of thick heirloom tomato, basil pesto, and a tangy balsamic reduction.

If burgers aren't your thing (blasphemous, but if you're finding yourself in the mood for something else), FLIP excels at their non-burger options. The crispy buttermilk-battered butterfish sandwich is topped with a bright, colorful mango salsa, cut perfectly with a kick of cajun mayo. You also can't miss the pork belly burger, a pretty stack combining an angus patty, a hunk of braised pork belly, brussels kimchi, and a fried lotus root flower.

Let's not forget the drinks - FLIP specializes in both cocktails and milkshakes hand-crafted to order with liquid nitrogen. Siddle up to the bar to watch your hand-poured milkshake get topped with steaming "N2" - whatever you do, you must try the nutella + burnt marshmallow shake for the perfect ending to a savory meal.
